Vacuum Ejectors

ZH

Lightweight, point-of-use ZH and ZU series vacuum generators combine design simplicity with high performance. Simply plug an air supply tube in one end, and vacuum is ready at the other end. The slim ZU generators are extra compact. The ZH and ZU immediate response may be quicker than central vacuum systems. Also, these generators are often smaller and lighter than the bulky vacuum lines used in central vacuum systems. A built-in exhaust silencer keeps generator noise to a minimum. Available in four nozzle diameters and a number of port sizes.

ZL

The multi-stage ZL series is a high-efficiency vacuum generator, which operates at 150% efficiency (compared to about 40% for other units). For each scfm of compressed air it consumes, the ZL generates an incredible 1.587 scfm of suction flow. The ZL is available with a built-in vacuum switch with digital readout for design flexibility. Other features include built-in suction filter, exhaust silencer, and one-touch tube fittings. Its' compact design allows for mounting from three sides.

ZM

The ZM series is an all-in-one vacuum generator, complete with internal suction filter, exhaust silencer, supply and break valve, and vacuum switch. Its dual-stage nozzle design increases suction flow by 40% over single-stage generators, yet its compact size makes it suitable for many different applications. ZM series generators also boast a strong vacuum break pressure for quick cycle times. Available in standalone or manifold configurations.

ZQ

ZQ compact vacuum ejectors are compact (10mm body width) and lightweight. The compact design and resin materials make the ZQ 40% lighter (compared to a 4 station ZX). A digital vacuum pressure switch with LED display is standard on the ZQ series.

ZR

The larger ZR is a single-stage vacuum generator. The modular design allows the user to choose only the components needed for the application. The ZR is available with a combination of generator unit, supply/release valve unit, pressure switch unit, and suction filter unit. Order without the generator unit for use as a filter and valve assembly for house vacuum systems. Special function plates allow the use of shop air to create the vacuum, and nitrogen for the blow-off. Available in standalone or manifold configurations.

ZU

ZU series vacuum generators combine design simplicity with high performance. Simply plug an air supply tube in one end, and vacuum is ready at the other end. Also, these generators are often smaller and lighter than the bulky vacuum lines used in central vacuum systems. The slim ZU generators are extra compact. A built-in exhaust silencer keeps generator noise to a minimum. Available in four nozzle diameters and a number of port sizes.

EZM

The EZM series is an all-in-one vacuum generator, complete with internal suction filter, exhaust silencer, supply and brake valves, and vacuum switch. Its dual-stage nozzle design increases suction flow by 40% over single-stage generators, yet its compact size makes it suitable for many different applications. EZM series generators also boast a strong vacuum break pressure for quick cycle times. Available in standalone or manifold configurations.

Vacuum Regulators

Applications

A vacuum regulator is used to set and control the amount of vacuum in a vacuum system to the desired magnitude. The goal of the vacuum regulator is to maintain a constant vacuum at the regulated vacuum port regardless of gas flow in the system. Our various vacuum regulator designs control vacuum in countless applications, including low-differential vacuum applications such as precision clamping (vacuum chucking) and parts handling, calibration and instrumentation, vacuum degassing of liquids, altitude simulation chambers, and less than atmospheric absolute pressure regulation such as used in cryogenic systems and laboratory applications. We offer regulators that are adjusted mechanicaly by turning a control knob and other designs that are adjusted from an analog control signal.

Vacuum Measuring Scale

Vacuum can be measured either as an absolute pressure or differential pressure.

Absolute pressure is measurement relative to a perfect or zero vacuum, as in outer space. A zero reading occurs when the pressure is reduced to near perfect vacuum conditions. Therefore, when no vacuum is applied, the measured pressure is the ambient atmospheric pressure, which at sea level is approximately 29.92 inches of mercury, or 14.7 pounds per square inch, or 760 mm of mercury.

Differential vacuum is the measurement of the pressure difference relative to the surrounding atmospheric pressure. Therefore, a zero reading occurs when no vacuum is present. A perfect vacuum (zero absolute pressure) when measured as a differential vacuum will indicate the ambient atmospheric pressure. If a constant differential vacuum is maintained, the absolute pressure will fluctuate over time at a given location due to weather (barometric pressure) changes.

Differential vacuum measurement and control is useful in applications where it is desirable to maintain precise control of vacuum relative to atmospheric pressure, such as in the case of low pressure vacuum clamping of delicate or fragile parts and any other applications where it is important to maintain a constant vacuum regardless of changes in atmospheric pressure. A low differential vacuum setting utilizes a pressure setting that is relatively close to ambient pressure. Highervacuum applications utilize pressure settings that are closer to a perfect vacuum and are usually measured in units of absolute pressure.

Installation

A vacuum source, typically a vacuum pump, is connected to the inlet port labeled VACUUM PUMP on the Vacuum Regulator. The outlet port on the vacuum regulator labeled REGULATED VACUUM is connected to the user's system where the vacuum control is desired.

A port labeled REMOTE SENSING, located adjacent to the REGULATED VACUUM port is used to minimize pressure sensing errors caused by pressure drops resulting from high flow rates through the REGULATED VACUUM port of the regulator. The remote sensing port should be used if the distance between the regulator and the controlled vacuum location is more than a few feet away, or if a low differential pressure setting combined with high flow rates is desired. The effect of not using the remote sensing port will be observable in operation as a condition where the vacuum setting changes slightly with changes in flow rate. For example, small apparent vacuum setting changes, which occur as variations from little or no-flow rates to much greater flow rates when the regulator's vacuum setting is unchanged, are most likely due to the pressure drop from friction at increased flow rates. When high accuracy pressure indication and control is desired, it is important to monitor the pressure in the system at the point of interest, not at the regulated output port, because of the pressure-drop effect which is influenced by flow.

IRV

The IRV series vacuum regulator was developed to upgrade the design of the T203 model in a more compact size and to expand the range of vacuum regulators. Thread sizes available include Rc(PT), NPT and G(PF).

ITV

Series ITV electro-pneumatic and electronic vacuum regulators control air/vacuum pressure steplessly in proportion to an electric signal. They are light weight in design with a bright and easy to read LED display. The monitor output is available either as analog output or switch output. The ITV series is IP65 equivalent.
